Friday marks the last day of the early signing period, and Alabama caused a stir in their closing act. Kendrick Law, a four-star athlete from the class of 2022, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide live on CBS Sports HQ. Law chose Alabama over offers from Florida State, LSU, Texas, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. The 247Sports crystal ball gave Alabama a 40% chance of securing Law’s services ahead of the announcement, while SEC West rival LSU was close with a 30% chance.
Law is ranked No. 87 overall in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the third athlete in his category. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder from Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, Louisiana is a versatile star who can play cornerback, safety, wide receiver and running back.
Gabe Brooks of 247Sports provided this screening report on Law:
Adequate height with good volume and an athletic build. Assembled as a running back or a safety guard with the ability to play the receiver or multiple spots in the defensive back seven. Flashes an elastic athleticism that results in a bounce off the ground as a wide receiver and a contraction side as a ball carrier. Shows excellent stop-start capability and redirection bursts. Good top-of-the-range field speed backed up by the times on the track. Shows encouraging grip and pointing abilities, as offensive shots have been split between backfield and receiver. The finishes work like a back and show the ability to chain movements at the second level. Displays impressive concentration, body control and adjustability in width.
Law has made official visits to the state of Florida, Alabama, Texas and the LSU since the NCAA ended the time-out on June 1. He is the 25th player to enlist in Alabama in the class of 2022. This class is currently ranked # 2 in 247Sports. compound index.
