Dalhart senior Kennedy Green named GOAT Scholar Athlete of the Week

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) — This week’s FirstBank Southwest GOAT Scholar Athlete of the Week is a dual-sport athlete who balances organizations with academics. Meet Kennedy Green from Dalhart.

“I really like the aggression down there. I like to push people around sometimes,” Green said. “I like to work on my footwork and I really like playing with my back to the basket.”

The 6′3″ senior captain and varsity center Kennedy Green has been playing basketball since fifth grade.

“The height alone is huge and she’s grown so much in the last four years since she’s been here,” said Dalhart women’s basketball head coach Anthony Catherall. “She’s just become more physical and she has more contact around the basket, just like a basketball player.”

Green works hard on the field and in the classroom. She holds a 3.9 GPA, will earn her associate of science degree from Frank Phillips College, and plans to study in the legal profession.

“I took a couple of classes this summer with the chief of police and decided I really liked helping people that way,” Green said.

Green also stays busy participating in volleyball, track and field, the National Honor Society, the Science Club and more.

“I really love being in stuff like that too. I love being put in leadership positions like that,” Green said. “I appreciate the community service that comes with these organizations. supported and academically that I was able to follow very interesting courses which I think will be very useful to me.
