Inova launches emergency home care service

Inova Healthcare partners with DispatchHealth to launch urgent on-demand health care at home for local residents.

For injuries and illnesses that do not require an emergency room visit but cannot wait a few days for a doctor’s appointment, DispatchHealth healthcare professionals will come to your home. Services include those for:

  • Viral infections, including COVID-19 and influenza
  • COPD exacerbations
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Minor fractures, sprains, strains and bruises
  • Pneumonia
  • And more.

“Inova is delighted to launch this new integrated care delivery solution that will provide expanded access to patients seeking acute medical care from the comfort of their homes 365 days a year,” said Toni Ardabell, MSN, MBA, COO clinical business. “This partnership with DispatchHealth complements Inova’s existing emergency, primary and emergency care services in Northern Virginia.

To request care, patients can call 571-393-1944, visit or download a free mobile app. Referral from a doctor is not necessary. When requested, a DispatchHealth medical team trained in emergency care and including a nurse practitioner or associate physician, as well as a medical technician, will arrive at the patient’s home to treat the patient.

For life-threatening and urgent injuries and illnesses, patients should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. DispatchHealth should not be used in a life-threatening emergency and is not a substitute for a primary care provider, Inova warned.
