Lions punter Jack Fox throws an assist against the Rams in 2021.

Jack Fox is one of the top bettors in the NFL, but in 2021 he was able to show a hidden talent for pitching football when the Detroit Lions dialed in false punts at the right time.

After the play, people took to the internet to congratulate Fox and provide a comedic take on the play. As noted special teams fanatic Pat McAfee tweeted, Fox is a monster of an athlete considering how much he can do on the court.

Is anyone looking for a pass through heat map for Fox? As The Athletic’s Chris Burke tweeted, it’s hot all over the place as a pitcher.

Somehow, despite all of his elite kicks and even passes, Fox was left out for the Pro Bowl. However, as’s Ben Raven tweeted, Fox doesn’t seem to need anyone’s validation when it comes to this, given the way he plays week after week.

When the Lions were looking for a Hail Mary pass to end the half-time, many, including Andy Isaac, would suggest Fox as a pitcher given the strength of his arms.

Add it all up and it looks like the Lions have discovered a hidden new talent with Fox that everyone can get excited about whenever the team needs it.

Fox made another brilliant throw against the Hawks

Why all the hype for Fox? Once again, the Lions took a surprise out of their hat during a game and dialed a fake punt where Fox threw the ball. The game ended up working wonderfully for the Lions, who were able to move the ball into Atlanta territory after the catch and run. All in all, this was another dart from the late Fox as seen in the highlight:

Fox continues to show why he might be the NFL’s biggest threat in terms of ball and gun passing whenever the Lions decide on a fake. This throw was yet another feather in its cap to move forward in terms of highlight reels.

Fox Career Statistics

Since taking over the punting job for Sam Martin, who left in free agency a few seasons ago, Fox has been nothing but dominant. He had to win an early season battle to earn the punt right in camp, but once he got over that the sky was really the limit. At the start of last season, Fox had some impressive numbers under his belt, including an average of 50.3 which was the first in the NFL at the time. Plus, Fox’s long 67-yard punt at the start was tied for the league’s fifth longest boot, and he had 19 punters inside the 20-yard line, good for a tie in sixth place in terms of its peer group at this point. .

Here’s a look back at some of Fox’s best work from last season with the Lions:

With numbers and games like that, it’s clear the Lions have more than likely locked their punt position into the future. In the end, Fox might only pave the way to become one of the best bettors in the entire league.

Clearly he has the whole full set to use in his toolbox as well.
