MOORESVILLE, NC – Today, Lowe’s and Daymond John, ABC’s Shark Tank star and New York Times bestselling author, announce the upcoming series of Do it … with Lowe’s, a nationwide showcase program that empowers various entrepreneurs to take their business to the next level by selling on Lowes.com and in Lowe’s stores nationwide.

Almost a third of small businesses in the United States have been forced to close due to the pandemic, and a quarter of minority-owned businesses have temporarily closed.[1] Although the economy is reopening, entrepreneurs continue to face extraordinary challenges as they work hard to stabilize their businesses. Lowe’s brings Making It… With Lowe’s to a time when it is most needed, providing opportunities for diverse entrepreneurs to grow their businesses amid obstacles that can seem overwhelming.

“Making It… With Lowe’s highlights the remarkable stories of various small business owners who are often overlooked and underrepresented,” said Daymond John, ABC’s Shark Tank star, entrepreneur and investor who will once again host and will lend its expertise to advise the finalists of the program. “Last year’s program underscored the importance of giving them the opportunity to break traditional processes. This year, as so many diverse small business owners begin the recovery process, it is even more important to provide them with a well-deserved space to succeed. “

The first cycle of Making It… With Lowe’s attracted over 1,300 product submissions and top vendors received invaluable mentorship from merchants Daymond John and Lowe’s who helped them expand their reach, grow their businesses and to connect with new consumer audiences.

Today until July 30 at midnight PST, applicants are invited to apply to Lowes.com/MakingItWithLowes. Lowe’s especially encourages applicants from the LGBTQ + community, minorities, people with disabilities, veterans and women to apply, with innovative products in and beyond home improvement categories. Hundreds of contractors will be assessed for the opportunity to sell their product on Lowes.com, then 75 suppliers will be invited to meet with Lowe’s merchandising teams to be considered for further promotion. Consumers will be invited to vote for their “fan favorite” among the top 15 suppliers. The field will then narrow down to the Top Five Suppliers and Fan Favorite, who will pitch their products to executives at Lowe’s for the opportunity to receive truly unique mentorship and land on the shelves of Lowe’s and Lowes.com to achieve million customers.

Making It… With Lowe’s is only part of the company’s efforts to support small businesses, and its overall efforts to increase supplier diversity as part of its Total hospitality strategy. Last year, Lowe’s pledged $ 55 million to fund grants to small businesses owned by minorities and women, as well as small rural businesses. Lowe’s and its partner LISC have distributed these grants to more than 2,700 small businesses, making Lowe’s the largest donor to LISC’s Small Business Relief and Recovery Program and the COVID Rapid Resilience and Relief Fund.

As part of Lowe’s continued support for small businesses, the company will showcase the inspirational stories of Making It … With Lowe’s finalists at an in-person showcase event at a Charlotte-area Lowe’s store later this year.
