Celebrity chef Mitch Tonks has launched a new service that gives customers direct access to Brixham Fish Market – and delivers fresh fish to their door the next day.

Mitch’s pioneering seafood restaurants, Rockfish, launched Seafood at Home, the whole new way to buy and eat fresh fish.

From sea to plate in 24 hours, Seafood at Home is changing the way we buy, cook and eat fish, says Mitch, from Brixham.

Rockfish’s new service gives customers access to Brixham Fish Market, seeing the catch landed throughout the morning, minute by minute.

The market is open from 6:00 a.m. to noon, offering customers the chance to buy the freshest seafood straight from the boats for delivery right to their door the next day.

Seafood at Home isn’t another seafood box or fish meal kit, says Mitch.

Mitch said: “With Seafood at Home, Rockfish is revolutionizing the way UK households buy their fish.

“Unlike other fresh fish cans on the market, the Seafood at Home team controls the entire process from boat to plate, which means they can minimize the time between when the fish is landed and the time it is delivered to customers’ doorsteps, in addition to allowing them to offer the best fish the boats have to offer daily and a
a wider variety of expertly prepared cuts, all sustainably packaged and delivered direct.

“For too long the fish supply chain has meant that only those who live by the sea can get their hands on truly fresh fish.

“For the rest of us, our choices are what’s available pre-packaged and ‘fresh’ in supermarkets, which severely limits not only our choice but also quality and provenance.

“By completely changing the process, Seafood at Home instead brings the joys of the market – finding the best
fresh, quality British seafood – to everyone, in the hopes of helping us Brits eat more seafood, better.

Customers visit the online fish market where they can buy freshly landed fish selected by Rockfish’s experts, whether it’s their own boat ‘The Rockfisher’ or other local fishermen landing their daily catch.

The seafood is then transported just 17 meters – the equivalent of just four Ford Fiestas – where the fish is immediately cleaned, portioned and packaged directly alongside the quay.

It is then packed in specially designed boxes to ensure the fish arrives in perfect condition.

The fish and seafood on offer changes daily depending on what is landed, but options include everything from monkfish to cod, sea bass, gurnard, brill, John Dory, sole, cuttlefish, scallops, crab and more.

And if the customer is set to their favourites, all they need to do is sign up for the online marketplace’s “notify me” alerts, which means they’ll be notified when a boat with that specific hold lands. , giving him the opportunity to grab their favorite fish as soon as he leaves the boat.

Additionally, Seafood at Home relies on the experience and high caliber of the on-site chefs, which means the team can deliver cuts not usually seen on fish counters or in other cans. Delivery.

Think T-bones, beef chops and ribs, tails, cheeks and portions made especially for kids – all cut with easy cooking in mind.

Each home seafood box also includes a helpful guide created by Mitch and his chefs on how to cook fish at home.

The tips cover roasting, frying on the barbecue, cooking in an oven bag and even a special section on the perfect T-bone. Each section contains a recommendation on which fish work well with which method and how best to achieve restaurant-quality dishes to impress.

Well known and respected as one of the nation’s most knowledgeable voices and one of the nation’s leading seafood chefs, restaurateurs and authors, Mitch is a believer that fish only needs a few ingredients to make a dish. truly exceptional.

True to this philosophy, Mitch and the Rockfish chefs have developed a selection of sauces and butters designed to pair perfectly with Seafood at Home catches.

Mitch said: “Generally in the UK we don’t appreciate the abundance of seafood available to us.

“Much of what we catch off the British Isles is exported, and in its place we import from all over the world, which is heartbreaking when you think of the amazing tasting, high quality seafood that our fishermen are capable of daily production.

“Not only does British seafood taste amazing, it also plays a vital role in feeding people and providing jobs and security for our fishermen and women.

“Somewhere along the way, we Brits have lost the knowledge and the tradition of preparing what is available to us and
were rather afraid of it.

“I started as a fishmonger more than 25 years ago; during this time the industry has not evolved as much as it should have to reflect changing shopping habits and give people the flexibility they want.

“At Rockfish we have so much experience at our fingertips – not only do we sell British seafood in our own restaurants, but we supply other establishments, such as Hawksmoor.

“So it made sense for us to take the ability of chefs and restaurateurs to buy direct from the market and put that power in the hands of home cooks.”
